The pool

Our outdoor dock diving facility is located at our Rockville location, just 20 minutes from Richmond, Virginia. It features a regulation size pool (20ft wide x 40ft long x 4 feet deep) and a 40ft long platform, sitting 2ft above the water level.

Dock diving is seasonal, open April through October. 

Who makes a good dock diving candidate?

Dogs that LOVE to swim. A strong toy drive is also important. If your dog jumps into the pool from the side after a toy, they will most likely will love dock diving! 

Tips for dock divers:

• Pick a toy that your dog loves. Most seasoned jumpers use a bumper, Wubba Kong, or a good ‘ole tennis ball.

• When starting out, don’t push your dog off the dock and don’t be surprised if they don’t jump right away. Learning the sport can take time. Be patient! 

• It’s ok to start your dog in a life jacket, even if they know how to swim. 

• Once your dog is jumping, try tossing the toy just as your dog is about to leave the dock, so they can track it. This is how you teach your dog to jump further.
